In 1984, the MICHIGAN was re-powered with a new Cummins KTA-2300-CV-12 Diesel Engine rated at 1050 HP. It was completely renewed with new electrical system, radiator, Vicon transmission, converters, hoist sprockets, boom hoist, drum gear, counter shaft, gear and chain cases, and tagline controlled converter.
